Thanks again to Abs for pulling out all the stops and hosting an AWESOME book club evening (the custard slices were to DIE for, just ask Raylene and I). Not even the torrential downpours or the deafening thunder and cracking lightning could dampen our spirits. I think everyone had a great time and it was FABULOUS to FINALLY meet Raylene and Mandy and welcome them to The Sisterhood! Hope we get to see you girls again soon.
For those of you who couldn’t make it, here’s a glimpse into some of the silliness and fun!

Book Club Book Announcement

Synopsis:
On the night of her thirteenth birthday, Jane Howard made a vow to her
warring parents – she would never get married and she would never have
children. But life, as Jane comes to discover, is a profoundly random
business. Many years and many lives later, she is a professor in
Boston, in love with a brilliant, erratic man named Theo. And then
Jane falls pregnant. Motherhood turns out to be a great welcome
surprise – but when a devastating turn of events tears her existence
apart she has no choice but to flee all she knows and leave the world.
Just when she has renounced life itself, the disappearance of a young
girl pulls her back from the edge and into an obsessive search for
some sort of personal redemption. Convinced that she knows more about
the case than the police do, she is forced to make a decision – stay
hidden or bring to light a shattering truth. Douglas Kennedy’s
exceptional new novel is a portrait of the way we live now, of the
many routes we follow in the course of a single life, and of the
arbitrary nature of destiny. Like his previous highly acclaimed novels
it is also a compulsive read – and one which speaks volumes about the
dilemmas we face in trying to navigate our way through all that fate
throws in our path.
Due to the festive season, there will be no book club till Friday, 29th January so no excuses for not reading the book!
January’s book club will be hosted by Sharon and we can draw up a new roster for book club at that meeting.

Thanks to those who voted, it looks like our Moonlight Spa Heaven will be on Friday, 27th November. I’m attempting to negotiate with Mangwanani for a better rate if we’re a group of 10 or more. Please will everyone that will be attending let me know so that we can get the best rate possible.
Just to confirm, this will be a ladies only event on Friday, 27th November.
Hope to see you all there.
A Special Plea
September 8, 2009 at 7:39 am | In Uncategorized | 5 CommentsHi Sista’s
Here’s an opportunity for us all to do something simply divine…… So sista’s, lets see what we can do to help!
Some of you are aware of the work our sista, Joni, does with Princess Alice Adoption Home and they have sent out an urgent plea for nappies as they have completely run out. Like me, I’m sure that you’d all like to help but that its impossible with our schedules to get out there to make donations of nappies, in light of this, Joni has supplied us with the banking details and we can all make donations to help in this very worthy cause.
For financial contributions, our bank account details are as follows:
Standard Bank, Library Gardens
Branch Code: 00 10 05
Account no.: 000788910
Please make all cheques payable to: PRINCESS ALICE ADOPTION HOME.
As we would like to thank you for your donation, (financial or goods), please could you let us have your details.
Please fax to 086 687 3026
Attention Julie,
Email princess_alice@mweb.co.za
So sista’s, lets see what we can do to help!

Moonlight Heaven?

Hi Girls
As part of our house keeping earlier this week, we mentioned the social aspect of our Sisterhood and mentioned a Spa evening. I’ve done some research on Mangwanani’s website and this seems to be the best package for us:
R999.00 per person
• Collection in our private bus with sparkling wine and orange juice (Indaba & Sibaya – Selfdrive Only)
• Light snacks and refreshments on arrival @ 18:30
• IZIMANGA (Heaven on Earth) Full Body Traditional Body Massage with Hot Stone Therapy
• MOLALA – Ancient African Head & Neck treatment with Sesame Seed Oil
• NEO MAOTO (Foot Gift) Traditional African Royal Foot Massage(from toes to knees) – (Rose Petal Wash, Sugar & Grape Seed Scrub, Mangwanani Massage Cream)
• Complimentary Bar Service (Limited)
• Dinner
• Tot of Amarula & Imported Chocolate on departure
• Spa evening ends at approximately 22:30 / 23:00
Of course we need to now decide if we should do this with partners or not? Initially Sam and I were thinking of doing this with our hubbies, but given that there is a lot of Jacuzzi and drinking time, I wasn’t so sure how everyone would feel about that??? Shall we put it to a vote?
Please let me know who would be keen? I’m going to squeeze Mangwanani for a discount!
Hope to see you all there.
